Bumatofu Parents' Nursery & Primary School

Having studied childhood development in her primal years, one of our founding directors CLAIRE TWENDA quickly recognised an urgent problem of lack of education and poverty in the dire unprivileged households in Eastern Uganda. In partnership with Allways Group Ltd she started Bamatofu Parent's Nursery & Primary School in 2014 in order to mitigate the problem and give back to society.

About the project

Starting point

The first step to understand the scope of the project was to learn what shaped a child's learning experience in Budadiri and to find out how we could make improvements.

Support from local communities

Location, scale, and accessibility was absolutely crucial to this project. We wanted to make the biggest but most realistic impact to the educational landscape in Mutufu Village, Budadiri - Mbale Uganda.

Journey thus far

We have so far given bursaries to village students to pursue further studies at various levels from primary level to professional studies at college level from disadvantaged districts of Mbale and Sironko in Eastern Uganda. The current plan is to improve our school structures and facilities.

The future plan is to set up a secondary school and a vocational training institute for the children given that there is barely any within Sironko district.
